SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

21st Century Eco-Community
New Technologies

EXPO 2005 will create a model eco-community using new energy sources and other resource technologies in an eco-cycle micro society that preserves and enhances the local ecosystem. Expo Planners will integrate solar and other renewable energies, energy conservation, recycling, waste management, and eco-system restoration technology.

Expo 2005 will renew local eco-systems and preserve biodiversity by harnessing sustainable and environmentally sound sources of renewable energy and raw material. Waste power generation and co-generation system fuel cells in this experiment must attain a minimum overall standard of 80% efficiency.

There are many possibilities for participation in the Expo 2005 Eco-communities project. So far they include:

Eco-cycle system technologies.

Solar and other renewable technologies, energy conservation, recycling, waste management, and eco-system restoration.

Lifestyles embodying harmony with nature.

Reforming social norms and customs to support the recycling of goods, materials, and energy.

Achieving landscape diversity through the re-organizing of human-environment systems world-wide.

Human relations for enriching life.

Design (e.g. infrastructure, furniture, and clothing) that accommodates the imperatives of age and disabilities.

Balanced health and welfare facilities and provision.

Preservation and restoration of the ecosystem.

Biodiversity to preserve nature’s genetic heritage.

Planted forests as sustainable and environmentally sound sources of renewable energy and raw material.

2005 Eco-community.

The Expo 2005 eco-community embraces these environmental initiatives as a means to expand environmental awareness and promote business by accomplishing the goal of sustainable growth.
